HOW TO BOOK A PRATICAL DRIVING TEST

To book your practical test online you will need:

·                    a valid UK driving licence

·                    a theory test certificate number

·                    a valid debit or credit card for payment (Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Visa Electron, Switch/Maestro and solo cards are accepted)

To book your practical test over the phone with an operator you will require the same as above.

The phone booking service is available from 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.

BOOKING BY POST

To book your practical test by post you will need an application form.

These are available online from the DSA website or on request from the DSA booking line.

Payments can be made by chq or postal order but cash payment is not accepted.

SPECIAL NEEDS

If any special needs facilities are required for your practical test then you must request these at the time of the booking.

CHANGING OR CANCELLING A PRACTICAL TEST

As of the 1^st November 2005, you are able to reschedule or cancel your practical test online or over the phone up to three clear working days before your test without loosing your fee.

Also as of the 1^st November 2005 the DSA counts Saturdays as a working day, this means you can rearrange a test for a Tuesday on the Thursday before.

If you cancel or change the date of your test inside three working days you will lose your test fee.

(Previously 10 clear working days were needed – Please note that any tests booked BEFORE 1^st November 2005 still require 10 working days)

The online service is available from 6am to midnight, seven days a week.

AT THE TEST CENTRE

You MUST have the following items with you when taking your practical test.

·                     Your theory test pass certificate

·                     Your practical test appointment letter

·                     BOTH parts (Plastic card and paper parts) of your photo card licence. If you don’t take both parts of your licence your test will not take place and you will lose your fee.

·                     If you have an old style paper licence then from 1^st November 2005 you must take your paper licence and a valid passport.

If you have misplaced your licence then you need to apply for a replacement from the Driver and vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). This can take up to 15days.

REMEMBER – NO licence or NO photo means NO TEST and you WILL lose your fee!

DSA Pratical Test Fee's: Weekdays £56.50

                                       Weekends £67.00
